Executive Roundtable
Your Career in Six Words: Telling the Story That Gets You Hired Next
Layoffs, cost-cutting and constant AI shifts have upended a lot of careers. If you’re a leader in the middle of it, the story that got you here may not be the one that gets you hired next. Join a small group of experienced leaders for an informal Zoom conversation about what’s changed, professionally and personally, and how to tell your story for what comes next.
Our guest Larry Smith, founder of the Six-Word Memoir Project, will lead us in writing six-word career stories that point to what’s next. You’ll hear how other leaders see their next chapter and leave with a shorter, sharper story built for the role you want now.

Larry Smith’s mission began on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. He asked his grandfather Smitty to tell his story. Smitty said, “My story, who would be interested in that?” Then he talked for three hours. Larry has been helping people find and tell their stories ever since.
He is best known for founding the Six-Word Memoir Project, a short story format that has gotten millions of people telling their own stories. He has brought that gift for brevity to teams at Dell, Netflix, Levi’s, JPMorgan Chase and Nationwide, helping leaders sharpen their mission and helping colleagues celebrate one another. His work has been featured in The New York Times, NPR and the BBC, and he has spoken at TEDx, SXSW Interactive and AARP 50+. Oprah Magazine calls him “on a quest to spark self-expression in everyone.”
Larry teaches at Modern Elder Academy and Maven and writes the Substack “Say Less.”
